Geo Measure: Map Area/Distance App Reviews

9 Customer Reviews:

Very disappointed in this app. After reading several good reviews, I went for it. It is missing the fine-grained detail on the maps, does not allow me to import a jpeg, pdf, or any other format for a land plat and is very challenging to use what limited features are in there. Not sure why anyone rated it 5 stars. Oh, and there is no “help” feature either.

imprecise maps

With close-ups of maps differ from google maps. Inaccurate maps = not useful for measurements.

It is a nice simple app but could be made into a Coordinate Geometry (COGO) surveying app if input/output options is improved. Support for geodetic datum WGS84 G1674 ( ITRF2008) makes it compatible with Google Earth and many other map online and desktop applications. Point, lines and polygons Geodetic and UTM grid coordinates input/output would be the next evolution for this app as well as set boundary area to a fix value input by user, import/export in .CSV, DWG, SHP and KML formats are needed asap to make it efficiente for GIS too. If the developers provide input of distances and bearings it would be great for cadastral applications with metes and bounds. Exporting the poligon’s distances/bearings in CSV and DWG would contribute to it

First, the response is really quick, and this is good advantage rather than web based polygon tools. I often use this for my hobby / work to calculate the distance of my daily activity and send the information to my self via Message app (you can share the result quickly from the button on top). Here are some example of my usage: - Create a bike path and send it to myself before going out - I often tweet my bike path after I came back from my excersise. - I calculate the distance before I submit my reimbursement for gas - Check out property size around my house

While this app does not have advanced functions, Its simple enough for layman to use it. Just search for the location, Zoom in an start putting points to measure an area or distance. Needs to improve printing as it does not show the measurement details.

But the WHOLE MAP flickers everytime you place a point, which is really annoying; moving layed-down points is really tricky (you have to long-press); and while moving, the area doesnt live-update, which is non-intuitive. Still, it does do what it says on the tin, just not with much style.

This app is really handy if you need to know the area of a piece of land. I wish the distance points were editable for fine tuning. Give it a try. Worth the price when you need to know in a pinch.

PLANING ROADTRIP

In planning a walking or bicycle roadtrip, I can, in great detail, by adding more points, calculate my daily distance. If I make a mistake I can undo as many points as I want, and take a different direction. I can save the result in a file, and open it again later. I can magnify and shrink the map easily with the trackpad, spin the map so that north is not up. It is great. The map is as detailed as Google Maps. Maybe that is its source. I love this app.

Just how much land do they occupy?

Decent App

It is a decent App, but it would be more helpfull if the resolution of the image to be measure is higher. I have difficulty measuring some areas because of the low resolution. Please improve the quality of the image and it would be a great App.

Needs more COGO tools but it is a great starting point for this app
